And then Amanda (my Ragnar team buddy!) posted this on Facebook...
Aw, crap! It's like she was speaking right to me.
On the agenda today was a 6 mile Tempo run. I started off the first two miles at a comfortable pace (10:30ish). These was a slight drizzle in the air that later changed to flurries. At the mile 2 mark, I cranked it up to "comfortably hard" if there is such a thing. My mile 3-4-5 splits were nothing to brag about (all around 9:20ish). I was working much harder than indicated by my stopwatch. My neighborhood is a little hilly, nothing extreme, but just a constant rolling up and down. And the wind gave good resistance. Several times a big wind gust made me nearly stop in my tracks. It was one of those runs where you know you're building something...
When I finished this torturous tempo, my cooldown mile felt great, like a victory lap. I did it! No doubt about it today, I'm a TOUGH CHIK.

ReplyDeleteYou ARE a tough chik! Way to get it done!!!! You inspire me Jess :)
ReplyDeleteWay to be a tough chik, I bailed on the outside run due to pouring rain and 32 degrees= a skating rink for a road, seriously the busses wouldn't even come thru. Today, I am headed outside!
ReplyDeleteHaha! This rings so true for me today, too. Woke up with the intention to run on my treadmill (not even outside) and it was snowing SO hard outside that all I wanted to do was curl up with a cup of coffee and my family and watch the snow fall. But I still have the rest of the day and WILL get on that treadmill before the day is done.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I used the exact same photo in yesterday's post! We had a high wind warning and my husband and I still went out and battled the 60 mph wind. I'm just glad no trees fell on us!
ReplyDeleteGreat Inspiration!! Those runs do BUILD something mentally and physically, way to run it out!
